Reading Tips
Parents always ask "What can I do to help my kid be a better reader?" My answer is very simple, read with your child every night. You don't have to sit and read an entire chapter book in one sitting, just read for 10-15 minutes every night. Maybe one night your child does the reading and the next night you read to them. As long as they are interacting with a book somehow it's helping. I also recommend you talk to your child about what they're reading. A basic conversation about the book is all they need to be active readers. Ask them what's going on in the story, talk about the characters, have them guess what will happen next. These basic questions tell you a lot about what your child is picking up as they read.
